About me
I’m originally from Miami, Florida, but now call Hardin in Liberty County, TX home. I currently work as the Environmental Outreach Coordinator for the Texas Health and Environment Alliance (THEA), a nonprofit dedicated to protecting public health and the environment. At THEA, we empower communities facing toxic pollution by providing the tools and support they need to take action and demand cleanup and accountability. I’ve proudly been with THEA for the past 3.5 years, combining my background in science with a deep passion for community education and environmental justice.
I hold two Associate of Science degrees from Lee College, one in Environmental Science and one in Biology, and a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science with a concentration in Biology obtained from the University of Houston - Clear Lake. My academic and professional journey has always been rooted in a love for nature, science, and people. I conducted undergraduate research on a living shoreline project that was presented at the Living Shorelines Conference in New Orleans and resulted in a publication.
My experience includes working with benthic organisms and analyzing heavy metals and organic contaminants. My academic interests focus on coastal and marine ecology and applied conservation research.
Outside of work, I’m a proud mom to an amazing 10-year-old daughter, as well as two dogs and two horses. In my spare time, I volunteer with the Texas Marine Mammal Stranding Network in Galveston, TX and spend as much time outdoors as possible, whether it’s scuba diving, fishing, horseback riding, or hiking up a mountain. If I’m not at my desk, you’ll almost always find me outside, especially near the beach!
