Welcome to River Rally 2026
Wednesday May 13, 2026 3:15pm - 4:00pm CDT
Brownfields—abandoned or underutilized sites suspected of contamination—are visible reminders of unresolved environmental challenges in historically under-resourced communities, where residents are also often navigating issues such as flooding and water pollution. This introductory session explores how transforming brownfields can support healthier watersheds and serve as a strategy for addressing community water challenges. Participants will learn the basics of brownfields, how land reuse efforts can align with water-focused goals, and how integrated approaches can unlock new resources and opportunities. Groundwork Affiliates from Denver, Colorado, and San Diego, California will share real-world examples of how they have engaged their communities at the intersection of land and water to advance more resilient watersheds and communities.
