Join the 2026 Emerging Leader, Kaiya Giuliano-Monroy, to learn about her work at the intersection of river restoration and individuals experiencing homelessness.
This session will explore restoration efforts along the leveed section of the San Lorenzo River in Santa Cruz, California. It will focus on "River Stewards", a program that engaged people experiencing homelessness in restoration. During this session we will explore program development, relationship building, adaptive restoration, and the joy that comes with this work. This talk will have information that everyone can benefit from, but will have some technical information for restoration practitioners.
