River Rally 2026 has ended
Welcome to River Rally 2026
Wednesday May 13, 2026 4:15pm - 5:00pm CDT
Disasters are already devastating to frontline and historically disinvested communities, but it’s the disaster response and recovery process that can further perpetuate harm to residents by contributing to displacement pressures. In this session, Jackie Rogers (The Garden by the Bay) will share her experience living in Edgemere, Queens (NYC), where residents are experiencing displacement and exclusionary planning in one of New York City’s most flood-prone neighborhoods. In conversation with Rogers and Urban Waters Anti-Displacement Collaborative members Gloria McNair (Groundwork Jacksonville) and Liz Balladares (NY-NJ Harbor & Estuary Program), we will discuss solutions that prioritize the health and resilience of residents. Participants will leave the session with inspiration and tools to address similar issues in their own communities. We will be showing a short film featuring Rogers and the community of Edgemere- bring your popcorn!
